The eggPlant range of software testing tools are all licensed on a term basis (sometimes called subscription); i.e. you license eggPlant testing tools for a fixed term such as 1 year. An eggPlant license is always fully inclusive of:
- Product license.
- All major and minor product updates.
- Full support and maintenance.
- Access to training and consultancy.
The table below describes how each eggPlant tool is licensed. For specific price information please contact us.
|eggPlant Functional Development||
eggPlant Functional Development is the complete eggPlant Functional package that includes a complete script creation and debugging environment as well as script execution.
A license of eggPlant Functional Development can be used on any host platform (Windows, MacOSX, Linux) and can drive any test device from iOS to Windows 8; there are no per-platform or per-technology charges for eggPlant Functional.
A license of eggPlant Functional Development can be used by one tester at a time and can execute one script at a time (note that a single script may drive multiple test devices).
A standard license of eggPlant Functional Development is node-locked to a single host machine. A Team license (also known as a floating license) that can be shared by users on different host machines is also available.
|eggPlant Functional Execution||eggPlant Functional Execution is a simplified package that only allows script execution. So once you’ve written your script in eggPlant Functional Development you can use additional Execution licenses to execute this test across multiple environments simultaneously.
In mature environments with existing regression test suites, we typically find a 1-to-3 ratio of eggPlant Functional Development to eggPlant Functional Execution.
As with eggPlant Functional Development, a standard license of eggPlant Functional Execution is node-locked to a single host machine. A Team license (also known as a floating license) that can be shared by users on different host machines is also available.
|eggPlant Performance||eggPlant Performance is licensed in two parts – Base and Virtual Users.
The Base includes all the core tools such as Studio for creating tests, Controller for executing and monitoring tests, and Analyzer for in-depth post-test analysis. This is typically licensed on a yearly basis.
A specific performance test will then require a certain number of Virtual Users, e.g. 10,000 virtual users to test a new website. The need for virtual users fluctuates widely over your project and product life-cycle. While developing tests you may only need 10 virtual users for debugging, but when you want to really test your software you may need 10,000 or 100,000 virtual users. Due to this wide fluctuation, virtual users are licensed on a weekly basis.
|eggPlant Manager||eggPlant Manager is licensed based on the number of eggPlant Functional instances under management. For example, if you want eggPlant Manager to control four eggPlant Functional instances then you need four licenses.|
|eggCloud||eggCloud is licensed based on the maximum number of concurrent client connections required. So if you want ten testers to be able to simultaneously access devices within your eggCloud you need ten licenses. Note that there is no limit on the number of devices connected to the eggCloud or the number of registered users.|
|eggIntegration||eggIntegration for HP ALM and for IBM RQM are also licensed based on the number of eggPlant Functional instances under management. For example, if you want HP ALM to drive three eggPlant Functional instances then you need three eggIntegration licenses.
eggIntegration for Jenkins is free.
|eggBox||eggBox is an appliance (i.e. a hardware unit) which is delivered with a set of pre-installed eggPlant test automation software from the list above. There is no licensed “eggBox” software. Ownership of the hardware passes to the user on purchase.|
|eggPlant Network||eggPlant Network is an appliance, i.e. a dedicated hardware unit with the eggPlant Network software running on it.
Ownership of the hardware passes to the customer on purchase. The software is licensed on the standard eggPlant term basis. If the software is not renewed at the end of the term, the customer retains the hardware, but will no longer be able to use the eggPlant Network software.
The eggPlant Network appliance is available in a “20” and a “5” variant. This number refers to the maximum number of simultaneous simulations that the software will allow. For example, a user can concurrently simulate 12 different networks on a “20” variant, but not on a “5”. The variants also differ in the maximum bandwidth that can be simultaneously emulated.
