Latest release of test automation tool improves setup and scripting for enterprise testing environments

London, UK – July 06, 2016 – TestPlant, the maker of the eggPlant range of software quality tools, today announced the availability of eggPlant Functional v16.1, the latest version of its functional test automation tool. eggPlant Functional helps companies test their applications better, faster, and with less effort by automating the execution of functional testing.

Ideally suited to DevOps and Agile development environments, and companies undertaking digital transformation projects, eggPlant Functional uses a patented image-based approach to GUI testing that allows it to interact with any device by looking at the screen, in the same way a user does.

Key new features in eggPlant Functional v16.1 include:

  • Gherkin support. eggPlant users can now use the Gherkin domain-specific, business-readable language to make scripting even easier.
  • Built-in source code management. Git and SVN repositories can now be accessed from within eggPlant for easy source control and team collaboration.
  • Guided app installation. Full end-to-end workflows can now be automated by easily installing and uninstalling apps on mobile devices within eggPlant Functional.
  • Connection doctor. Problems on the underlying network can now be diagnosed using the connection doctor, allowing new connections to be set up with speed and ease.

eggPlant is completely technology agnostic and uses sophisticated image and text search algorithms to locate objects on the screen. eggPlant’s user-centric test automation approach also makes it incredibly intuitive to write tests, so anyone can be productive with eggPlant within a few hours.

“For many digital businesses, testing and quality is increasingly becoming a function that involves business users as well as engineers,” said Antony Edwards, TestPlant CTO. “Through our own SenseTalk scripting language, we have always sought to make testing as accessible and intuitive as possible, and this latest release of eggPlant Functional provides more flexibility around script development to make our product even easier to use.”

Webinars will be hosted on Thursday 14 and 28 July to discuss and demonstrate the key new features and updates. Register now.
