Version 5.1 of eggPlant Performance has the ability to dynamically add any number of Virtual Users to an already running test. This builds on existing comprehensive features for pre-defining a detailed ramp-up policy for each group of Virtual Users. The new feature allows testers to increase user concurrency and load during test execution:

  • Add Virtual Users using the ‘Automatic’ option and they will be automatically distributed across groups according to the existing ratios.
  • Full manual control is also available to allow Virtual Users to be added to groups in any combination.
  • Virtual Users can be added as many times as you want.
  • Test Controller will verify that sufficient test data exists for the new Virtual Users.

A short video to illustrate this feature can be viewed here.

A couple of other useful features have been added in this release including Project and Workspace start screens, the ability to set acceptable runtime engine failure levels and improved Web logging configuration.

eggPlant Performance v5.1 is available for download now.

What’s coming next? We are working hard on our new eggPlant Performance roadmap. High up on the agenda are brand new monitoring and metrics gathering capabilities and scripting enhancements. But we always need your feedback, so please send me your priorities and your product “wish list”.
